Frances Weis-Garcia

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, US
Biography

Trained as a cell biologist and immunologist, Frances Weis-Garcia has headed the Bi-Institutional Antibody and Bioresource Core Facility (ABCF) serving Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and The Rockefeller University (RU) for 20 years. Her technical expertise lies primarily in the development of new monoclonal antibodies, particularly for multi-transmembrane proteins and in vivo applications. The ABCF works closely with the Antibody Discovery Laboratory of the Therapeutics Discovery Institute, co-founded by MSKCC, RU and Weill Cornell Medicine to overcome the challenges academic institutions face translating their finding into therapeutics. Frances co-founded that Antibody Research Group within the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) and has served on the Executive Board of the association as a member and as President.
