Asset 2 Conferences

This was #Metabolism18

29 November 2018

The first of 5 sessions was opened by Michael Potente (MPI, DE) with his talk on Metabolic regulation of endothelial growth and proliferation. Karen Vousden (The Francis Crick Institute, UK) closed the second session on ‘Metabolism of Cancer Cells’ and did a great job during the Meet the Expert session where young scientists had an informal round table discussion and could ask her questions related to their future career.

Susan Kaech (Salk Institute for Biological Studies, US) inspired the audience with a presentation on “Anti-tumor T cells- you are what you eat” during the Metabolism of Immune Cells session and Uwe Sauer (ETH Zurich, CH) closed the conference with a clear explanation on how you can use Metabolomics as a hypothesis generator for understanding metabolic regulation.

In addition, there were also 2 prizes to be won. The best Poster presentation by public voting went to Ricardo Amorim (VIB-KU Leuven Centre for Cancer Biology, BE) while the organizing committee has chosen Martina Rudnicki (York University, CA) as the best selected talk.

VIB conferences would like to thank the organizing committee, the speakers, sponsors and of course the great audience! Visit Facebook for pictures about the conference and keep an eye on our calendar if you want to attend a next edition!
