Alexander Grechkin

Alexander N. Grechkin was born in Kazan in 1952. He graduated from high school No 131 in Kazan in 1969 and From Kazan State University in 1974. Then, A.N. Grechkin graduated from the postgraduate study at the Kazan Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics (old name, Kazan Institute of biology) in 1983 and received a PhD degree. In 1992 he defended his thesis in the Council at the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology and received a doctorate degree. Until now, A.N. Grechkin works at the Kazan Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics. His main scientific interests are related to the lipoxygenase pathway in plants (as well as non-mammalian organisms); studies of oxylipin biosynthesis and its mechanisms, search of novel products; the CYP74 clan enzymes, their structure and mechanism of catalysis.
