Biography
Dr. McDonald's research investigates the role that the gut microbiota plays in preventing and treating gastrointestinal infections, including Clostridioides difficile infection and antimicrobial resistant infections. The goal of her research is to develop rationally designed small molecule and/or enzyme-based therapies that are well-defined and safer alternatives to faecal microbiota transplants. Her expertise includes artificial gut models and "omic" technologies.
