Jurgen Del-Favero

Prof. Dr. Jurgen Del Favero is the scientific founder of and acting Chief Technology Officer at Multiplicom N.V. He obtained a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences from the Free University of Brussels (VIB) in 1995. Later that year he joined the VIB Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Antwerp where he is professor since 2008. From within his academic position Jurgen Del Favero focuses on the development and implementation of methods and technologies to enhance genetic and genomic research with a specific focus on complex diseases in general and psychiatric diseases in particular. His group developed a proprietary algorithm for designing multiplex PCR reactions that is the core technology of Multiplicom.

Multiplicom was founded in April 2011 as a spin-off of VIB and the University of Antwerp. Multiplicom develops, manufactures and commercializes molecular diagnostic kits that are essential to providing everyone with access to effective, affordable and personalized medicine. Multiplicom enables clinical laboratories to diagnose patients with a genetic disease or predisposition, diagnose and steer cancer therapy, and identify congenital defects early in pregnancy.
