Stéphanie graduated from University of Algarve in 2011 with a Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences where her research with Dr. Tiago focused on the role of microRNAs in bone development. Afterwards she moved to University of Lisbon where she graduated in 2013 with a Master of Science in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Her research with Dr. Bicho focused on genetic polymorphisms in cervical carcinoma. Before starting her graduate studies, she was granted a one year “Research fellowship for Masters” from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) to investigate the role of redox regulation of Annexins in cancer in the Madureira Lab at the Center for Biomedical Research in Faro. Currently, her work in the Halder Lab in VIB Center for Cancer Biology focuses on the role of YAP/TAZ in liver cancer.
