Sven Sommerfeld

Sven D. Sommerfeld is a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Jennifer Elisseeff at the Translational Tissue Engineering Center situated in the Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biological Chemistry at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey under the supervision of Joachim Kohn at the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials. His current research interests at Johns Hopkins include the development of biomimetic materials derived from extracellular matrix components with a range of clinical applications in mind: Starting in the replacement and repair of tissues these materials ultimately aim to modulate complex immunological responses.
