Tanja Mittag received her Diploma and Ph.D. from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, where she studied mechanisms of protein/ligand interactions using NMR spectroscopy. For her Postdoctoral training, she worked with Julie Forman-Kay at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, under co-supervision of Lewis Kay, and became interested in structure/function relationships of intrinsically disordered proteins. She accepted a faculty position at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, in 2010, where she is currently an Associate Member in the Department of Structural Biology. Her research focuses on the molecular interactions mediating liquid-liquid phase separation and its relationship to enzyme function and disease mechanisms.
