Biography
W. Todd Lowther is currently an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Lowther received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Stetson University in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida in 1994. He carried out postdoctoral work with Dr. Brian Matthews at the HHMI, University of Oregon from 1994-2002, in the areas of N-terminal protein processing and repair of oxidized methionine residues in proteins, using biochemical, biophysical, and X-ray crystallographic approaches. His lab currently focuses on the structural biology and biochemistry of proteins involved in redox biology and the metabolism of glyoxylate, hydroxyproline and fatty acids.
