W. Todd Lowther is currently an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Lowther received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Stetson University in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida in 1994. He carried out postdoctoral work with Dr. Brian Matthews at the HHMI, University of Oregon from 1994-2002, in the areas of N-terminal protein processing and repair of oxidized methionine residues in proteins, using biochemical, biophysical, and X-ray crystallographic approaches. His lab currently focuses on the structural biology and biochemistry of proteins involved in redox biology and the metabolism of glyoxylate, hydroxyproline and fatty acids.
