Biography

Wei-Ting Chen is currently a postdoctoral scientist at the Bart De Strooper laboratory in VIB-KU Leuven for research of neurodegenerative diseases. Wei-Ting’s research focus on the changes of spatial and temporal transcriptomics in the cells in the vicinity of Alzheimer’s pathogenic hallmarks. Application of Spatial Transcriptomics defines an intercellular genetic network induced by amyloid plaques, named as Plaque-Induced Genes (PIGs). Together with in situ sequencing, a collaboration with CARTANA, her project provides single cell resolution of PIGs in the amyloid plaque cell niches. The goal is to apply spatial omics to reveal the cellular response toward pathogenic hallmarks of neurodegenerative diseases.
