Alejandro Sifrim

KU Leuven, BE
Biography

Alejandro Sifrim leads the laboratory of multi-omic integrative bioinformatics at the University of Leuven (Belgium). He obtained his PhD at the University of Leuven under Yves Moreau on data fusion strategies for genomic variant prioritisation. As a postdoc, he applied these approaches as part of the data analysis team of the Deciphering Developmental Disorders study at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute under Matthew Hurles, leading the effort on congenital heart disease. Returning to Leuven, he pursued the development of computational strategies for single-cell multi-omic analysis, under Thierry Voet, and their applications in a variety of biological applications such as embryo development, cancer, skin stem cell dynamics, mammary gland development and others. As a group leader, he now focuses on the development of computational approaches for the analysis of single-cell and/or spatial multi-omics technologies, ranging from automated experimental design, to unsupervised subcellular pattern identification and integrative data fusion.
