Charlotte Scott

VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research, BE
Biography

Charlotte Scott obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow, Scotland in the Lab of Allan Mowat. In 2014, she joined the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research, Belgium, working in the Guilliams lab as a postdoc. In 2019 Dr. Scott became associate professor at the Ghent University and in 2020 a Group Leader at VIB.

Dr. Scott is now a principal investigator and associate professor at the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) and Ghent University in Ghent, Belgium. In 2019, she obtained an ERC Starting Grant. Her lab is focused on investigating the functional heterogeneity of hepatic macrophages in the context of tissue damage and inflammation. Recently, her team has been addressing this issue using single-cell and spatial proteogenomics approaches, including cellular indexing of transcriptomes and epitopes by sequencing (CITE-seq), Visium, molecular cartography, and MACSima Imaging Cyclic Staining (MICS). Using these technologies in the mouse and human liver, the team has identified conserved, spatially relevant features regulating recruited hepatic macrophage phenotypes in health and disease.
