Clare Kingsley

Clare joined Illumina in 2015 and is Senior Director of the Illumina Laboratory Services (ILS) team in Cambridge, UK. This team successfully delivered Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) for the 100,000 Genomes Project.

My team works in close partnership with Genomics England and the NHS, delivering the UK government vision, set out in 2012, to bring the benefits of Whole Genome Sequencing to patients in clinical care. Clare and her team are responsible for delivering WGS services in support of the NHS Genomic Medicine Service.

Clare brings experience of delivering an end-to-end diagnostic sequencing service, operating within standardised ISO-accredited environment, including experience to scale these services.

Clare’s doctorate and post-doctoral research focussed on biochemistry and molecular biology, looking for novel drug targets in malaria and tuberculosis. Clare then moved into industry focusing on healthcare including drug development, product development in reproductive and genetic health and diagnostic testing.
