Erwin Peterman
Erwin Peterman is Professor Physics of Living Systems at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Director of LaserLaB Amsterdam, the institute of Lasers Life and Biophotonics. He received a MSc from Wageningen University in Molecular Sciences and a PhD in physics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, working in the laboratory of Rienk van Grondelle. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of W.E. Moerner at UCSD and Stanford University. His research focusses on the development of single-molecule tools (optical tweezers, acoustic force spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy) and their application to biophysical problems (intracellular transport, DNA and DNA-protein interactions). In 2014 he cofounded the company LUMICKS b.v. that further develops and commercializes the instrumentation developed in his group.
