Lukas Reiter

Dr. Lukas Reiter is CTO at Biognosys. Biognosys invents and provides mass spectrometry-based proteomics solutions to R&D and clinical trials. Lukas oversees research as well as product and workflow development at Biognosys.

Lukas graduated from ETH Zurich with a focus on molecular biology, biological chemistry, biochemistry, and bioinformatics. For his PhD, he joined the groups of geneticist Prof. Michael Hengartner and proteomics pioneer Prof. Ruedi Aebersold. He focused exclusively on bioinformatics and received his degree in 2009 from the University of Zurich. He has authored key publications in computational proteomics and is a co-inventor of the SWATH technology.

At Biognosys his research and developments are centered around analysis of human samples such as human plasma as well as optimal analysis of mass spectrometric data such as data independent acquisition. At Biognosys he started to experiment with deep learning around 2016. This technology has now become an integral part of the toolbox.

Lukas is fascinated by proteomics technology and how fast technology moves forward. He strives to make the proteome available to everybody who needs to know about proteins.
