Dr. Oliver Otto studied in Germany, Mannheim and Leipzig, where he obtained a Diploma degree in Information Technology and Physics. He received his PhD in Biophysics from the University of Cambridge (UK) where he investigated single Molecule mechanics at the Cavendish Laboratory. In 2012 Dr. Otto became a junior group leader in the research group of Prof. Jochen Guck at the Biotechnology Center Of the Technische Universität Dresden (Germany). For the past three years he has been Developing a high--‐throughput method for label--‐free mechanical cell characterization Real--‐Time Deformability Cytometry (RT--‐DC). Dr. Otto authored more than 25 peer--‐ Reviewed publications, is co--‐inventor of RT--‐DC and co--‐CEO of the recent TU Dresden spin--‐off ZELLMECHANIK DRESDEN GmbH. The start--‐up was founded In July 2015 by an interdisciplinary group of scientists and commercializes RT--‐DC worldwide.
