Final registration deadline is 26 August.

We're thrilled to announce that on 8 September 2022, we will have a live edition of the VIB Seminar in Genk! Hangar 58 is a unique location in a green environment, ideal for a summer edition of the VIB seminar. After the turbulent last 2 years, we would like to welcome all of you with a program that is accessible for everyone.

In addition to the introduction of our new managing director and the presentation of new VIB initiatives, we are honored to have 3 keynote speakers:

Our first keynote speaker is Lynn Rothschild (Brown University, US). She has brought her imagination and creativity to the burgeoning field of synthetic biology, articulating a vision for the future of synthetic biology as an enabling technology for NASA’s missions, including human space exploration and astrobiology.

Next to that we are all wondering what the future challenges will be considering COVID-19. That's why we have invited Prof. Dr. Steven Van Gucht (Sciensano, BE) to give us more insights on the lessons learned from the pandemic and what to expect.

Our third keynote speaker is Scott Solder (Active Bystander, UK), who is an expert in human behavior and communication. His presentation will include psychological and assertiveness techniques in challenging unacceptable behaviors and he'll show us how to be active bystanders.

Finally, the VIB Seminar is the event to meet colleagues from the different centers and cores, so a social program with teambuilding and party will be the icing on the seminar cake!

Bus transport to the venue (Hangar 58, Genk ) is also for this edition provided (More info)
Busses will drive back to each campuses after the party (+- 00h30 - 01.00am)

VIBIKERS kick-off with indoor bike race

In 2023 VIB will participate with five cycling teams to the ‘1000km voor Kom Op Tegen Kanker’. During the seminar there will be information on how you can become a candidate for these teams and a call to organize activities to raise the necessary money for Kom Op Tegen Kanker. To kick-off the ‘VIBIKERS’ team there will be a first fund-raising activity at the seminar in the form of an indoor bike race. Show your hart, get it pumping and get those wheels spinning!
